Coach Tanelda McDonald-Carey (known as Coach T.) strongly believes that in order to learn on an advanced level, the athlete must understand the foundation of where the skills originated. It’s commonly called ‘working from the ground up‘.

Coach T. is a Ridgeland, MS native who currently lives in Galveston County. Graduating from Madison Central High School, Tanelda was named MS Gatorade Player of the year. She also graduated and played collegiate softball for Mississippi State University (2002-2005).

Tanelda earned her college degree in Business Administration majoring in Risk Management and Insurance.  After college, she played with the Harlem Diamonds Professional Softball team and later earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

Today, Tanelda is the Co-Owner of Playing With Purpose Sports (PWPS), which is a softball training organization.  It focuses on fundamental skills that must be developed in order to play at an advanced level both on and off of the field.  Tanelda is also the Director of Texas Diamond Elite Softball Organization and is the Head Softball Coach of Texas Diamond Elite 12U.

Playing With Purpose Sports has a deep rooted desire for helping athletes to perform with purpose and passion. Through PWPS, Tanelda has had the opportunity to work with a variety of softball teams with organizing practices and working with young athletes privately with hitting instruction.  She also hosts clinics and camps.
